Day 7: North Carolina to Virginia

Pinehurst, NC to Alexandria, Virginia with stops at
Fort Belvoir & TISCOM

Welcome to VIRGINIA!!!
(Makayla's birth state)

You know when you pass Quantico, you're getting close. :)

Potomac Mills, use to be our favorite place to shop.

Getting closer...

...even closer...

161, that was our exit...

Lewis Chapel Circle, was the very first street we lived on as a family of three back in 2003.

Kenton Crossing Apartments

Our apartment building from the front...

...and from the back. That was our old porch, we could see the pool from where we lived.

The 2nd place we lived together. We also lived here when I was pregnant with Makayla.

Woodside Apartments

That was our unit, up there, on the 3rd floor! Could you imagine walking up and down those flights of stairs... pregnant?! I don't know how I did it.

Fort Belvoir!!
We loved living on Fort Belvoir and was (and still is) the best on base living experience we've had. Made a bunch of really good friends when we lived there that we still keep in touch with to this day.

The NEW Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, it just opened not to long ago.

Dewitt Army Hospital
This is where I had Makayla. It's the "old" hospital and they are in the middle of remodeling the whole building to turn it into the Wounded Warriors Pavilion.

The Villages at Dogue Creek
We moved on base when I was 8 months pregnant with Makayla. This was her very first home.

On Maloney Rd.

That's it! 9650 D :)

Thought I would do a side by side comparison. Eight years later and it doesn't look that much different.

The Exchange
They are actually building a brand new one to the left of this building. It's gonna be huge!

My old grocery store... gotta love the Commissary! :)

TISCOM
Telecommunication and Information Systems Command
Home to the United States Ceremonial Presidental Honor Guard

The new buses

The barracks!

Another comparison, Isabella and her daddy :)
First one was taken back in January 2004 when Isabella was just barely one year old and then now, eight years later at the same park, on the same playset.

Evening Colors

Geese family... had to make sure they made it across Telegraph Road safely.
