11.5.11 - Today I am thankful for my husband's career. Don't get me wrong, being a military wife is extremely tough. And sometimes I wonder how I manage. But I couldn't be more grateful that Shane joined the Coast Guard and is still active duty... 8+ years later. Being a military family has it's not so good times but it also has it's great times and amazing benefits!! Where else can you find... stability, full medical coverage, housing allowance, good dental insurance, plus 30 days paid vacation a year, etc? We have the basic necessities and then some. I feel very fortunate. On top of that we get to travel and see the united states. And while moving every 3-4 years can be exhausting... it's also a new adventure that we look forward to sharing together as a family. A new start. It also gives us the opportunity to meet new people. Plus we inherit a second family... military families kind of adopt each other and are they for one another when our extended families can't be. So it's nice.
