24 Days of Thankfulness, Day 1: 11.1.11

Its November and Thanksgiving is right around the corner! It's also one of my favorite holidays and I thought this year it would be neat to take time each day to blog about something or someone I'm thankful for. I often focus on what I don't have instead of being thankful for what I do have. This has been a HUGE point of conviction in my life over the past few months. So, here it goes - 24 days of thankfulness...

Day 1: - I am thankful for modern medicine and the fact my doctor was able to schedule me for surgery so soon and that we were able to find out I had cancer before it spread out of my thyroid gland. I'm also thankful for general anesthesia cause I couldn't imagine being awake for a procedure like that and for great medical insurance too... I got a "this is not a bill" receipt in the mail today from the hospital and had we not had insurance my surgery would have cost $16,180.46 out-of-pocket!! Yikes.

Editing to say, I got another "this is not a bill" receipt in the mail today, 11.4.11 and after both surgeries the total cost would be $26,579.37 had we not had medical insurance.

Once again I will say THANK GOODNESS for great medical coverage.

Tanya
