Restaining Furniture

This was my most recent project... and what a project it was!

So about 2-3 weeks ago, I decided I was gonna try to sand down the girls bedroom furniture and restain them myself. I've sanded and stained things in the past but never anything like this. This was my first "big" project and I have to say, it was a lot easier then I anticipated and I think it turned out rather well. I started with Isabella's dresser and night stand...

I lathered it down with wood stain stripper.

I used this stuff  and it worked SO good!

After about 15 minutes, I was able to scrape it off. It came off like butter!

Then I took the sander to it...

... stained it using Rustoleum Black Cherry...

... added a clear coat...

...and added new hardware. I love the way the new knobs look. So much better then the old wooden ones that it had before.

I still have Isabella's desk to do as well as Makayla's dresser and night stand. But it is coming along... and I am pleasantly surprised at my "refinishing" skills. The girl's furniture has been through several moves and have taken a beating. I originally wanted to buy them new furniture but now I don't have too. By restaining them myself, they look new and I saved us money! :)

(I'll post pictures of the others once I get them done.)
